Andrew Ryan Robb: Artist Statement
I want my work to bring a certain vibrance, depth and movement that inspire the viewer to engage closer and look for longer at the intricate play of detailed parts and finely tuned colors that tightly interlock and play off each other to form the entire painting as a whole. A clear harmony of color, shape, and line that flow rapidly throughout the piece; thus creating a unique and fresh perspective of what contemporary painting is and what contemporary painting could be.
Generating depth and movement in my work is a fundamental element to my ongoing creative process and growth as a professional contemporary oil painter. Each piece; whether it be my figurative work or my abstract work; is carefully imbued with a life of its own that takes on a unique essence and style that resonates continuously throughout the painting.
Free form improvisational music such as jazz and blues are a significant influence in my studio. The compositions of my paintings capture the free flowing substance of colorful melodies, conceptual notes, and musical transformations and passages that embody these particular genres of creative musical genius.
My art resonates with a visual sound burst of creative energy expressed deliberately through a very subconscious and intuitive mind set. Encouraging a system of automatic decisions and choices resonating at a gut level to surface and thrive.
